What Susana cannot do
It is a matter of pride for us to ensure that our subscribers are fully understood in whatever circumstances they find themselves. Certain factors may, however, limit our ability to do this, and you should be aware of them before taking a subscription.
a. Response times
Our aim is to answer your call as quickly as possible, but even the fastest computers need time to identify an available interpreter, so it is possible that you may not be answered as quickly as you wish. Since we always have more interpreters on duty than the number of subscribers likely to call, your waiting time will be brief. In the unlikely event that we are overwhelmed by an unexpected surge of calls, you will simply be told that no interpreters are available and asked to call back later.
b. Regional accents
Susana interpreters are highly competent in ‘standard’ English’ and ‘standard’ Spanish, meaning Castilian Spanish or castellano, but both are world languages and have a great variety of regional accents and dialects. If the interpreter does not fully understand yours, he or she will ask you to repeat yourself just once, and if he or she still fails to understand you fully, will advise you to call
our helpline.

c. Technical vocabularies.
If you wish to use highly specialized technical terms, the interpreter may ask you to provide conversational interpreters. If this is impossible, they will advise you to terminate the call.

d. Extended & specialist interpretation
Susana is intended for relatively short, critical moments, in normal everyday exchanges obstructed by language barriers. It is not intended
or recommended for extended interpreters of documents, for meetings, or to discuss complex legal issues.

e. Information & advice
Susana is a interpreter service not a general information or advice service.
Susana cannot provide train times, travel directions, hotel prices, and the like. If you are with a person who can provide
such information, Susana will of course be happy to help you understand them,
if you have difficulty doing so.

f. Uneven mobile coverage
Mobile coverage is of uneven quality in every country, and you may therefore have
to wait until you are in an area where reception is better.
g. System downtime, and interruptions beyond our control
Our systems like any other are regularly tested, maintained and upgraded, but this downtime
never exceeds one hour. and only occurs in pre-dawn hours. Other parties, on whom our telephone connections depend, may also be responsible
for interruptions to our service which are quite beyond our control.
